Author Q&A with Michelle Grey #Romantic #Suspense #NBTM

Michelle Grey will be awarding a $50 Amazon/BN GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour.

If your book were made into a movie, who would you want to play your main characters?
I’d love to see Michael Buonomo cast as Jack, and Tori would have to be played by Rachelle Lefevre.

How do you come up with the titles of your books?
I actually struggle greatly with titles! I have author friends who come up with titles and then write their books. I can’t do that. I agonize for hours (days?) trying to come up with appropriate titles. Fortunately, I have a solid group of writer friends who are more than willing to brainstorm with me until we come up with a winner.

What does your writing space look like?
I’m very fortunate to have a husband who is SUPER handy. He built a library/office space for me that I’ve decorated in a black/white/grey/red Paris theme. Paris is on my bucket list, so until I get there, I’ll hang out in my office.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
I love to travel, but don’t get to do it as often as I’d like. When I’m staying put, I love hanging out with my four kids and two grandkids, playing tennis with my hubby, or sneaking away to read a great book.

What is your favourite color?
I love all shades of green. Especially teal, since it’s the ovarian cancer awareness color, and I’m a survivor.

What is your favourite pleasure food?
There are too many to mention, so I’ll stick with supreme (everything but the kitchen sink) pizza.

What is your favourite season?
I live in the Kansas City area, smack in the middle of the United States, so I get to benefit from all four seasons in the extreme. We get hot summers and cold winters. I love the renewal of spring, but my favorite season, by far, is autumn. I love the cool evenings, fire pits, and crunching leaves underfoot.

What is your favourite television show?
I am not a big television watcher, but the one show that my family and I don’t miss is The Walking Dead. Great cast and an incredible apocalyptic story line that still somehow incorporates hope.

What is your favourite movie?
I love movies!! I have so many favorites, I can’t list them all. Depends on my mood. Movies I’ll watch any day any time:  Dirty Dancing, Ever After, Titanic, The Ugly Truth, Overboard. Funny movie: We’re the Millers, Drama: The Judge. But I know I’m missing so many…

Who is your favourite actor?
I adore Sandra Bullock, on and off screen.

What is your favourite song?
Anything by Uncle Lucius. They’re a fantastic band from South Austin Texas. Their most popular song is called Keeping the Wolves Away.

What is your favourite comfort clothing attire?
I love shorts and t-shirts when I’m hanging out at home

What books might we find on your bedside table?
My classics are Julie Garwood historicals, Judith McNaught historicals and contemporaries, and I love anything by Carla Cassidy or Heather Snow.

Describe yourself in three words.
Survivor. Believer. Optimist.

Nothing comes between Tori Whitlock and her tornado chase season -- not a serial killer, not even the hot FBI agent who’s vowed to save her life. But Detective Jack Mathis plays tough. Ending this case isn’t just his job, it’s his mission. And he finally has the advantage.

He faces Tori’s hostility and objections head-on, interjecting himself into every aspect of her life, and leaving him no time to dwell on his own.

Through the twists and turns of the madman’s game, Tori is forced to adapt to her unwelcome circumstances. Still, she fights Jack's presence, and her attraction to him, as he tries to open doors better left closed.

For Tori and Jack, life and death decisions are part of their jobs. But, can they overcome their pasts and realize that there’s a difference between life and living?

Excerpt:

This meeting isn’t about Glenn and his new show.”

Tori checked Cam and Dwayne to see if they were as confused as she was, but neither one was looking at her. She sat back and cocked her head. “Then what?”

Alan tugged at his shirt collar. “The emails. Cam gave them to me. And I gave them to the FBI.”

Her head swiveled to Cam, her voice low and menacing. “You rat bastard. I want my key back. You had no right.”

Cam’s steady eyes assessed her. “Would you have turned in the emails?”

Tori rolled her eyes. “Of course not. I –”

“Exactly. I had no choice but to be the responsible one.”

“Responsible my –”

Alan raised his voice, interrupting their spat. “Either way, the FBI thinks the emails are credible enough that they’re sending their lead agent on the case down here to become your best friend for a little while.”

Fingers dug into the chair’s padded fake leather arms as she shot a pointed look at Cam. “I don’t need another ‘friend.’ I’ve got enough of them already. What’s he going to do, live with me?”

“Probably. And chase with you, too.”

Tori’s chair exploded against the conference room wall as she flew out of it and planted her palms on the table. “Oh, hell no.”

AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Michelle Grey is an avid lover of books, and had always thought that someday she would take up her pen and write romantic suspense. In 2009, Michelle was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer, and she realized that “somedays” aren’t guaranteed. This life changing event motivated Michelle to pursue her dream of becoming an author.

In January of 2013, Michelle released her debut novel, Dangerous Ally.

In September of 2013, the next book in her Long Shot Series, Unspoken Bonds, was published.

Now a cancer survivor, Michelle decided to use her platform to promote awareness of ovarian cancer and its symptoms.  In January 2014 she published, Are You Listening: A Personal Journal of an Ovarian Cancer Survivor.

Because it is so important to spread the word, one hundred percent of the proceeds from this $.99 ebook go directly to the Vicki Welsh Ovarian Cancer Fund to support their mission of fighting ovarian cancer through awareness, education, research and support.

Michelle lives in the Midwestern US with her husband of twenty-eight years and has four amazing and unique children, a wonderful son-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters.  Michelle believes that any day that involves family, writing, or reading is a great day, indeed.

    1. Good morning! I've always loved writing - all the way back to when I was editor of my high school newspaper, then professional as a marketing person, I wrote ad copy. But fiction is my writing love. It wasn't until my mom passed that the dream was rekindled in my heart, and then when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2009, I knew that I wasn't guaranteed another 30 or 40 years, so it was then that I got serious about following that dream.
