Q&A with author A.C. Chenier #romance #VBT

The author will be awarding a $15 Amazon or B/N GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour.

If your book were made into a movie, who would you want to play your main characters?
For Katie – Amy Adams, Kristen Bell or Anne Hathaway
For John – Jude Law or Justin Long (Colin Firth would be dream actor)
For Ward – Josh Duhamel, Andrew Lincoln

How do you come up with the titles of your books?
The books pretty much name themselves. I don’t title them until I’ve pretty much completed the writing. I then start to just bounce ideas around in my head, and soon a few options pop up. Then I start Googling  to see if that particular title is already in print. So far, I’ve been lucky, and my first choice hasn’t already been in use. “Loves of our Lives” came to me fairly easily and just spoke to the theme in this book.  My second one “Love by Knight” took a lot longer to come up with. Then one day, that title just came to me.  Given it has a strong tie to the Knights Templar; I felt it was appropriate.

What does your writing space look like?
Rather messy actually. I’m not a neat person by natural tendency. To stay organized I have to be very methodical and disciplined; that’s not me.  So while I start with good intentions, it doesn’t stay that way long.

I currently write in the loft of my townhouse. I would love to eventually have a separate studio from the house where I can get away from it all, and just write and edit. Someplace on a lake would be my dream.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
I have many hobbies; my passion is horses; I’ve been around them for 40 years.  I also love golf, and this past winter picked up curling too.  When I need quiet time, you’ll find me around a lake.

What is your favourite color?
Blue

What is your favourite pleasure food?
Is chocolate a food?  If so, then give me dark chocolate. My munchies tend to be chips and dip. For real food....give me a nice rare steak...anytime!

What is your favourite season?
Early fall, while it’s still relatively warm during the day, the leaves are turning, the sky is bright and clear, and the nights have a slight nip to them.

What is your favourite television show?
I don’t watch a lot of TV actually. You’ll typically find a sports channel on in my home when I’ve got the TV going. Golf Channel, Sportsnet or TSN are normal.  I do enjoy The Voice, so PVR that, and watch at my own leisure.

What is your favourite movie?
For light viewing – Love Actually
For sci-fi – Star Trek or Star Wars

Who is your favourite actor?
Colin Firth – he made a wonderful Mr Darcy in the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice.

What is your favourite song?
I don’t think I could pick one that is an all-time favourite. My tastes range pretty much across the board.

What is your favourite comfort clothing attire?
Summer – comfy shorts and a t-shirt
Winter – yoga pants and a sweat shirt

What books might we find on your bedside table?
Romance or Fantasy.  I find that now that I’m writing I don’t read as much as I used to.

Describe yourself in three words.
I had a friend recently describe me as smart, ambitious and cute.  LOL  I would agree with the first 2. So maybe, smart, ambitious and caring.
For Katie Benjamin, finding the perfect soul mate was just a fairy tale until a chance encounter on a train changes everything. What she discovers takes her on a journey that spans lifetimes.

Excerpt:

It felt so peaceful to just sit quietly beside John after the bustle of the rest of the party. The silence felt…well, she wasn’t sure how it felt. The best way to describe it was that it felt just right. The music and chatter from the other rooms drifted on the edge of their ears, but otherwise it was peaceful and restful. She realized John was still holding her hand in his. And that felt right, too. She turned to look at him and found his eyes on her. Their eyes met and the world faded around them. It was just the two of them.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

I am a CPA, CGA and live in Southern Ontario. After working for many years in the high pressure worlds of banking and IT, I decided that it was time to have a change in pace. Leaving Toronto behind I embarked on a new career in retail sales. The change was wonderful, but I felt something was missing.

Then, the unthinkable happened, and I was widowed at 46. That was a truly life altering experience. In time, I was introduced to the books and work of Dr. Brian Weiss. I discovered in his research a new purpose in life, and was driven to start writing, something I had always enjoyed, but never thought of as a career choice.

And now here we are in 2015, and my first novel is ready to be published. My second, also in the Past Lives series, will follow shortly.  I continue to write and dream of a future that I had never even considered in my wildest dreams.

    1. I agree with you, it doesn't happen often. I can't think of one right now...but I know it's happened to me a few times ,usually if I've seen the movie first, then read the book.

    1. I have two when I read: romance and fantasy. And when I can combine the 2? Well that's great for me. One writer who is prolific in this area is Jayne Ann Krentz/Jayne Castle/Amanda Quick.

    1. Thanks. I actually find bio's hard to write; how do you boil down your life into a couple of paragraphs?

  10. Are you still a CPA? If so, what do you love most about it? And what do you love least about it?

    1. Yes, I am still a CPA. What I love most is the business aspect of it, and how it makes it easy for me to research the business aspects of industries, especially now in the publishing business. Marketing is marketing, regardless of the industry, so the background was great when embarking on a new career.
What I like least is taxes. As I have the designation, many assume that I must do taxes for a living. I don't, I hate doing taxes (even my own).
