If your book were made into a movie, who would you want to play your main characters?
That’s such a great question! I would definitely say that I have a few options for each character. For Craig, I image Chris Evans or Josh Holloway. For Alexa, I see Phoebe Tonkin or Odette Annable.

How do you come up with the titles of your books?
Many times, they come up during the writing process. A phrase or a conversation between the characters will birth the title. Other times, I will think of a book title and then a story will be born. It’s very much a “which came first: the chicken or the egg?” scenario.

What does your writing space look like?
Yikes! Do I really want to tell you? I wish I could say that it’s a very Zen, organized space, but then I’d be lying. The truth is, it’s an ever-changing, pile of chaos. I do try to keep it organized (hence all the folders), but my desk reflects my mind. Often times there are piles of notes, books, sticky notes, highlighters, and cups of empty coffee. On the up side, I do have a great view of my gorgeous Magnolia Tree and a framed picture with the words, Once upon a time.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
I love to read, garden, or indulge in my favorite guilty pleasure: Bravo TV.

What is your favourite color?
Often times, I think it depends on the season. I love the rich, vibrant colors of leaves in fall, the blue of the ocean during the summer, or the bright pinks and purples of Iceland poppies in my garden during spring. If I had to choose just one, I think it would be green. I connect very strongly with nature, and I couldn’t imagine living a life without its beauty surrounding me.

What is your favourite pleasure food?
I am a TOTAL foodie, so I love this question! I think it bounces between: Sushi, Guacamole, and tempura green beans with spicy dip!

What is your favourite season?
I love every season (maybe not so much summer) but I think the fall wins for me. I love the clear skies and cool weather. My favorite outfit is a sweater, scarf and jeans.

What is your favourite television show?
Lately, I have been addicted to UnReal on Lifetime. Season two wasn’t my favorite, but the first season was absolutely phenomenal. I’m holding out for Season three.

What is your favourite movie?
This is a hard question because again, I am all over the map. My moods often dictate my “favorite movie” at that time. Right now, I would have to say Dances with Wolves. Not only is it a magical, timeless story, but I also adore the soundtrack. It’s one of those films with fantastic replay value.

Who is your favourite actor?
Hmmm…I really love Natalie Dormer and Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes!)

What is your favourite song?
I love “I Don’t Deserve You” by Plumb

What is your favourite comfort clothing attire?
Yoga Pants and a loose fitting T-Shirt!

What books might we find on your bedside table?

Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning, Jane Austen The World of Her Novels, Panati's Extraordinary Origins of Everyday Things and Catholic Daily Prayers,

Describe yourself in three words

Honest, Nerdy, Loyal

Excerpt
Oh, shut up.”

The alarm beeped until she punched in the code. Alexa dropped her keys into the wooden bowl on the stand by the front door, dropped her handbag over a coat rack peg, and leaned against the closed door until she heard the click. She had seen in Craig’s eyes what must surely have been reflected in her own. The wanting, the need, and the impossibility of any kind of liaison between them. She was a wasted effort in the relationship department, and the sooner they both figured that out the less chance of heartache later.

She noticed the cold for the first time since entering, and this time the shiver through her body wasn’t from Craig. She pulled the pistol she’d slipped into her handbag back at Craig’s house. Jordan would still be out on the wilderness journey, or “trek” as they called them in their family. Why then did she not feel alone in the spacious house set back in the woods and away from anyone who could hear her scream?

“Get a grip, Alexa.” She walked through the lower level, checking every window and door, and did the same upstairs. The coldest of the air emanated from her bedroom and it was in the doorway she stood and surveyed the dark room. Everything was as she left it, except for the envelope propped against her mother’s old jewelry box on the dresser.

Her finger lay loose and ready near the trigger as she walked across the room, moonlight guiding her way. Alexa. The script on the front of the envelope appeared all too familiar and Alexa knew the nightmare had returned, but this time he was real.
