Author Interview: Order of Fear by Lisa Caviness #Romantic #Suspense

Lisa Caviness will be awarding a $25 Amazon or Barnes and Noble GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour.

If your book were made into a movie, who would you want to play your main characters?
If this book were turned into a movie I’d choose Ryan Reynolds and Eva Mendes to play the hero, Dr. Justin Tanner, and the heroine, Marissa Nash. Glenn Close would be cast as the villain and leader of the organization, The Order.
How do you come up with the titles of your books?
I start with listing words and phrases associated with the book. Usually, I will have a working title until the story has been completed and then I finalize the title based on the feel of the story and the emotion I want to invoke.

What does your writing space look like?
An L-shaped desk dominates my writing space. I usually have stacks of papers on my desk regarding my research, interesting articles, and important information on writing. At some point, I will organize those papers into binders based on subject matter. When I’m writing, I always have a notebook next to me to jot down ideas or notes on the manuscript in progress. On the wall in front of my desk, I have a dry erase/bulletin board to post dates, inspiring messages, and important writing reminders. My children will often sneak in and write cute messages on the dry erase board. It’s my favorite part of my writing space!

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
I love working out, specifically running and lifting weights so I’m at the gym most mornings. As a family we often take long walks together. I also enjoy watching movies and, of course, reading.

What is your favourite color?
Pale yellow and aqua

What is your favourite pleasure food?
Chocolate brownies

What is your favourite season?
Summer, definitely!

What is your favourite television show?
24 will probably always be my favourite television show. It was such a sad day for me when the show ended. As someone who loves thrillers, 24 was the ultimate ride!

What is your favourite movie?
Bridget Jones’s Diary

Who is your favourite actor?
Julie Andrews. Who doesn’t love Maria from Sound of Music and Mary Poppins! I also like Harrison Ford. Han Solo, Indiana Jones, and Dr. Richard Kimble (The Fugitive) are characters I particularly liked.

What is your favourite song?
I don’t have one favourite song but some of my favorites are: “Elements” by Lindsey Stirling, “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” by Michael Jackson and Siedah Garrett, “The Love We Had Stays On My Mind” by Joss Stone, “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce, “Love Will Find a Way” by Lionel Richie, “Quando, Quando, Quando” by Michael Bublé, and “You Can Have Charleston” by Darius Rucker

What is your favourite comfort clothing attire?
Workout attire

What books might we find on your bedside table?
Right now I’m close to finishing Dark Places by Gillian Flynn and I’ve begun reading Love Encounters by Lanora Mangano. On my bedside table as the next book I’m reading is Jillian Jacobs’ Maude’s Score (this one is actually on my Kindle) and a hard copy of The House of Secrets by Brad Meltzer. I also have a book on the history of US National Security Agency.

Describe yourself in three words.
Inquisitive, Honest, Reliable

BLURB:
Marissa Nash, part-time ballet dancer and accountant by day, plans to call off her wedding to her philandering fiancé, instead she finds him dead. Dr. Justin Tanner is the best man who harbors buried feelings for Marissa. As they uncover past secrets, throwing them into a deadly battle with an evil organization, they must also come to grips with their growing feelings threatening to leave them both shattered. Order of Fear is a romantic suspense novel.

Excerpt
The sticky sensation of David’s blood coated Marissa’s hands. This wasn’t supposed to happen. She’d been ready to tell him she couldn’t marry him. Maybe they could have worked through their problems, or maybe they could have parted as friends, but now he was dead. Anger and preoccupation would no longer alienate them. The easy humor and quick laugh that had been absent in recent weeks would never return.

Surrounded by blood, she glanced at one wall of the kitchen. Her stomach roiled as she studied the brain matter splattered on the wall like abstract art. The wall had once been tan, but was now stained a ghastly shade of red.

Marissa blinked several times, hoping to erase the sick scene, but the reality remained. David was dead.

The last few weeks she’d been embroiled in romantic, tranquil colors. Soft peach hued roses. Elegant gray candles. Delicate swirls of ruffled silver icing on a too-pretty-to-eat wedding cake. A snowy white wedding dress.

Now her world was blood red.

The education she has received, proved invaluable but more importantly the support from fellow writers has enriched her in thrilling and unexpected ways. Lisa writes romantic suspense.
